about

Record Kicks proudly presents the debut single of our brand new signing, Marta Ren & The Groovelvets. The Oporto's combo breaks into the scene with this explosive double sider 45. On the A side the Marva Whitney inspired, TNT Dynamite deep funk's track "2 Kinds of men" backed by picnic days smashing hit "Summer's gone (didn't swim)", with a super cool video with already loads of plays on YouTube. These two old-school pearls, brilliantly supported by super tight 8 pieces rhythm & soul combo The Groovelvets, show Marta's immense talent on vocals.

Marta has been around in the Portuguese scene since the mid 90s lending her deep and powerful voice amongst the others to break-beat outfit The Bombazines, recording two albums and establishing her unique talent at clubs and festivals all around Portugal. But Marta's passion has always been for the deepest funk and rawest soul of the sixties and now is time for her to go on by herself.

Marta Ren & The Groovelvets are currently in the studio, recording their debut long play scheduled on Record Kicks for end of the year… welcome Marta!
